C-5 MLG Trunnion Bearing
Solicitation # FA8538260019
The Air Force is soliciting proposals for a depot-level remanufacturing effort for the C-5 Main Landing Gear (MLG) Trunnion Bearing Assembly (NSN 3120-00-766-2056UC, Part No. 4F23832-103A). This large, plain self-aligning spherical bearing is critical for the retraction and extension of the C-5 MLG. The scope of work requires the contractor to provide all resources and manpower to inspect, functionally test, and remanufacture the assemblies by installing a remanufactured spherical bearing into a serviceable housing assembly. A key technical requirement is the mandatory use of new balls in the remanufacturing process, as reworked balls are prohibited. All assets must be tested to Original Equipment Manufacturer Acceptance Test Procedures and pass DCMA final breakaway torque inspections. This is a Firm-Fixed Price Requirements contract with a five-year period of performance, consisting of a one-year basic period and four one-year ordering periods. The Best Estimated Quantities are 64 units per year. Award will be made using the Lowest Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) process to a responsible offeror who is either on the government's pre-approved qualified source list or submits a complete SAR package meeting all source pre-qualification requirements, including an ISO 9002 quality plan. Delivery is required 46 weeks after receipt of order, followed by a delivery rate of 8 units per month. Contractors must adhere to strict military packaging and marking standards, specifically MIL-STD-2073-1 and MIL-STD-129. The contract includes several data deliverables, including monthly production reports, annual government property inventory reports, and IUID marking verification reports. Due to the nature of the technical data, interested vendors must be registered in the Joint Certification Program and approved for Export Control to access bidset documents. Proposals are due by 5:00 PM EST on October 27, 2026, and must be submitted via DODSAFE in two separate volumes.
