AI Contract Overview
This Request for Information seeks to gather data regarding the experience, capabilities, and technical expertise of shipyards in applying plural-component coating systems. Issued by the Department of Defense via Mschq Norfolk, the RFI is designed solely for market research purposes and will not result in a contract award. Interested shipyards are invited to respond by May 13, 2026, providing detailed information about their recent past performance with plural-component coatings on military or large commercial vessels, specific coating manufacturers they work with, and any applicable certifications. Additionally, respondents should outline their quality assurance and control protocols that monitor critical variables such as volumetric mix ratios and fluid temperatures during coating applications. The RFI also requests details about the training and qualifications of applicators, including whether formal OEM equipment training is provided, the frequency of refresher courses, the number of certified personnel, and how training records are maintained. Responses are to be submitted via email to the designated contact, Damian Finke, and although participation does not guarantee consideration for future contracts, it will help the government better understand current shipyard capabilities related to plural-component spray system applications. The notice underscores that no payment will be made for information provided and emphasizes the importance of specific, verifiable examples in submissions.
