The Utility Helicopter Program Management Office (UHPMO) at Redstone Arsenal is seeking information from industry and academia regarding technologies that can enhance the UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter within the next five years. The goal is to identify innovations that reduce costs, weight, downtime, and maintenance, thereby optimizing the aircraft’s overall performance. They are particularly interested in advancements related to systems integration, lightweight materials across various components such as landing gear and electronic enclosures, actuator and control systems, corrosion and erosion prevention, as well as improvements in mission equipment packages including avionics and cockpit displays. The scope also welcomes novel concepts such as nanotechnology, solutions for environmental conditions like brownout or whiteout, and enhanced molding and casting processes. Interested parties are encouraged to submit briefings or white papers outlining their technologies, their current applications, potential benefits to the UH-60 Blackhawk, and estimated timelines for testing and integration. This request is solely for information gathering and does not represent a commitment from the U.S. Army to procure products or services, nor will respondents be compensated for their submissions. However, providing information does not preclude companies or institutions from being considered for future contracts related to hardware development or ancillary services tied to this initiative. Responses are to be submitted by December 22, 2004, via email to the designated contact at the UHPMO.

Transmission housing materials may also be considered. If a company or institution has other candidate technologies outside of this list that they believe would be useful to UH-60 Blackhawk, they are encouraged to submit those ideas as well. Responding vendors should provide a short briefing or white paper (no more than 10 pages per submittal) describing the technology, where it is currently being used, how it could enhance the UH-60 Blackhawk weapon platform, and how long it will take to full y test and integrate the technology.
