Full Description

This is a pre-solicitation synopsis in accordance with FAR Part 5. The United States Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center has a requirement for Marine Painting Services. The Government anticipates awarding a requirements type contract for one base year and four (4) one (1) year options. The NAICS code for this requirement is 336611 and the small business size standard is 1,000 employees. All work will be performed at the U.S. Coast Guard Yard, Curtis Bay, Baltimore, MD on vessels, dry docks, shoplifts, and industrial shops. The performance of work is as follows: The contractor performs various skilled journeyman painting tasks. The marine painter must be proficient at preparing surfaces, mixing paint and thinners, working epoxy, polysiloxane, lacquer and enamel paints, in addition , the marine painter must be skilled at spray, brush and roller applications. REQUIRED TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS: The Company must be SSPC. QP1 certified. The contractor is responsible for all basic hand tools and safety equipment for the assigned employees: Hand tools include but not limited to: Pneumatic sanders, needle guns, grinders, and scaling guns. Required safety equipment includes but not limited to: helmets, safety glasses and shoes, respirators, hearing protection. Workers assigned to any USCG Yard contract will NOT be permitted to wear disposable paper respirator at any time. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which, if timely received and in accordance with the solicitation, shall be considered by this agency. The estimated date the solicitation will be issued is 15 June 2011. Responses shall be concise and be specifically directed to the requirement referenced above. It is the offerors responsibility to monitor FedBizOpps for changes or amendments to this notice.
