RFI 05042026-CAB Electronics Cabinets Racks

Brookhaven Science Associates, LLC, the operator of Brookhaven National Laboratory under a prime contract with the U.S. Department of Energy, is soliciting expressions of interest from firms capable of providing electronics cabinets and rack-mounted solutions as specified for the Electron Ion Collider (EIC) project. This notice serves as a Request for Information (RFI) and sources sought announcement, intended solely for information gathering and planning. It is not a solicitation or request for proposal, and there is no obligation for the government to compensate respondents. The EIC is a new facility designed to study nucleon structure through collisions of polarized ions and electrons. Respondents are asked to provide information regarding their experience in manufacturing electronics cabinets and racks compliant with the provided technical specifications, including lead times, minimum order quantities, and the ability to perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analyses for rack configurations. Additionally, firms should confirm capabilities related to manufacturing, assembly, testing, and scheduling within the U.S. Responses, which should include capability statements, compliance matrices, budgetary pricing, and any exceptions to the General Terms and Conditions for Noncommercial Items, must be submitted electronically to the designated contact by 5:00 PM EST on June 4, 2026. The submission will aid the Department of Energy’s Office of Basic Energy Sciences in understanding the available resources to support the EIC project.
