Notice is hereby given that the City of Smithville will receive sealed proposals at City Hall, 107 W Main Street, Smithville, MO 64089 until 2:00 p.m. local time, on October 27th, 2026, at which time all bids for the Second Creek Sidewalk Improvements will be publicly opened and read.

This project will consist of construction of a multiuse trail in the community of Smithville. The project will include grading, concrete trail pavement, pedestrian facilities, sidewalk curb ramps, and drainage improvements.

A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held at Smithville City Hall on October 20th at 2:00 PM

The bid proposal shall be made on a form of proposal, provided in the specifications and delivered in a sealed envelope clearly marked on the outside Bid No. 26-14 to the City Hall on or before the time specified above. No facsimiles will be accepted. The proposal shall be accompanied by a bid bond, certified check or cashier's check of a bank or trust company in Clay County or Jackson County for an amount not less than five (5%) percent of the bid amount. The amount of the check shall be forfeited to the City if the bidder neglects or refuses to enter into a contract or to furnish bond after their proposal has been accepted.

The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids, offers, or proposals submitted, or to advertise for new bids with the MoDOT’s concurrence. The City reserves the right to defer the acceptance of any proposal and the execution of a contract for a period not exceeding one hundred twenty (120) days after the date of opening of the bids. The successful bidder to whom the contract has been awarded shall sign the contract and performance bond and other required certificates in triplicate and return the signed documents within fifteen (15) days after the date of their receipt.

The City of Smithville hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively ensure that in any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, businesses owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, religion, creed, sex, age, ancestry, or national origin in consideration for an award.

Plans and specifications may be obtained for a non-refundable fee from Drexel Technologies on-line at www.drexeltech.com in their Distribution plan room. Contractors desiring the contract documents for use in preparing bids may also obtain a set of such documents from Drexel Technologies, 10840 West 86th Street, Lenexa, KS 66214. Bidding documents will be shipped only if the requesting party assumes responsibility for all related charges.

The successful bidder and contractor will be furnished, without cost, not more than three (3) sets of plans and specifications for the project. If more are requested, additional sets will be furnished at a nominal charge. Any plans and specifications required for permits by a municipality or other public agency will be furnished by the City.
