Route 156 West Corridor

Caltrans District 5 is planning a major transportation improvement project to realign and widen State Route 156 between US 101 and west of Castroville Boulevard in Monterey County, expanding the roadway from two lanes to four lanes to accommodate increased traffic demand and improve safety. The project also includes the complete reconstruction of the SR 156/Castroville Boulevard interchange to enhance mobility and reduce congestion at this key junction. This initiative is part of a long-term effort to modernize critical infrastructure in the region and support regional growth.
