Rush Creek Noxious Weed Management Project

The Rush Creek Noxious Weed Management Project, led by the Trinity County Resource Conservation District, focuses on the manual removal of invasive garlic mustard from up to five acres of private land in Trinity County, California. Located approximately seven miles north/northeast of Weaverville near the intersection of Rush Creek Drive and Rush Creek Road, the project aims to prevent the spread of invasive species into the Rush Creek watershed and the mainstem Trinity River while promoting the regeneration of native plant populations. The scope of work requires the exclusive use of manual removal methods, specifically the pulling of entire taproots, with a strict prohibition on chemical treatments. To ensure environmental protection, all plant materials must be bagged and removed from the site for proper disposal, and standard erosion control best management practices must be implemented where significant bare ground remains. Personnel are required to follow strict protocols to prevent the spread of weeds, including cleaning boots and adhering to disposal guidelines. The project is categorized as a small habitat restoration project and is exempt from certain environmental review requirements under CCR Title 14, Section 15333.
