This project will reduce hazardous vegetative fuels on small non-industrial privately owned parcels southeast of Jackson in the vicinity of Butte Mountain in Amador County. The project will connect previously treated areas to the north and south of the project area to enhance the continuity of wildfire risk reduction in the Wildland-Urban Interface/Intermix around Jackson. Between 51 and 75 acres within the 90-acre area assessed for biological and cultural resources will be treated by a combination of means to reduce or remove incompatible vegetation within the fuel reduction area. These treatments may include mechanical mastication, hand thinning and chipping, piling and burning, pruning, the application of herbicides and/or other treatment methods. Ground fuels and brush will be masticated, and small conifer and hardwood trees will be thinned. Property owners included in the project have signed Right-of-Entry agreements to allow project work to be performed on their properties.
