The Department of Veterans Affairs VISN 23 VA Medical Center in Omaha is seeking emergency laundry services starting July 1, 2015, due to the previous vendor's refusal to continue services and a history of inadequate performance. This action is being processed as a non-competitive award under the authority of unusual and compelling urgency to prevent any break in service that could negatively impact direct patient care. The estimated cost for these interim services is 162,500 dollars, which will cover the period until a long-term contract is competitively solicited and awarded. The selected vendor must ensure a 24-hour turnaround for linen, with daily pickups and deliveries occurring between 8:00 am and 8:30 am, excluding Sundays. Additionally, the provider is required to maintain an emergency plan to guarantee service continuity and adhere to all federal, state, and local laundering regulations. While this immediate need is being met through a limited competition process, the agency intends to post a full competitive solicitation on Federal Business Opportunities to secure a permanent solution.
