AI Contract Overview

This contract involves the continuation of various support services, including heavy equipment operation, gravel delivery and spreading, septic pumping, and solid waste disposal at facilities located in Bettles Field, Alaska. The services are being provided to support the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Kanuti National Wildlife Refuge, which requires regular maintenance and infrastructure improvement around its buildings. Because the Service does not own the necessary heavy equipment or means to handle septic and waste disposal, this contract ensures these critical operations are maintained through an external provider. The contract is structured as a firm-fixed price sole source award to the Evansville Tribal Council, with an initial base year plus four option periods. It falls under the NAICS code 562212, which pertains to solid waste landfill services. The contract was posted in May 2012 with the anticipated award date set for May 22, 2012. The justification for sole sourcing is based on specific logistical and operational needs that limit competition, with the procurement conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures in Region 7 of Fish & Wildlife Services. For further details, the point of contact listed is Almeda Gaddis.
