The Department of Veterans Affairs has entered into a sole source contract with Workplace Essentials for the provision of sanitary napkin dispenser and disposal services. This agreement covers the installation, weekly maintenance, sterilization, and restocking of 12 dispensing units and 185 disposal units across a main facility and three supporting Community Based Outpatient Clinic locations. The scope of work includes the removal of soiled waste and the implementation of odor neutralization to maintain a professional environment for veterans and visitors. The total estimated value of this acquisition is 550,188 dollars, with a required delivery date of May 1, 2017. This action was conducted as a limited sources justification because Workplace Essentials owns the existing vending machines and is the only authorized provider capable of restocking and servicing the proprietary equipment. An intent to sole source was posted on FBO in April 2017, which received no responses, further justifying the selection of this vendor to ensure compatibility with existing systems.
