Santa Ana River Trail Project, Segments 2, 2A, and 3A

The Santa Ana River Trail Project, Segments 2, 2A, and 3A, is a construction initiative managed by the Riverside County Regional Park and Open Space District to install a 2.78-mile multi-use trail within the Prado Dam Flood Control Basin in unincorporated Riverside County, California. The project features a Class I asphalt or concrete bicycle path measuring eight to ten feet in width with two-foot shoulders, complemented by decomposed granite paths for pedestrian and equestrian use. Technical specifications include a maximum longitudinal slope of five percent, a two percent maximum cross fall, and a minimum 2:1 slope ratio for cut and fill areas. The scope of work also encompasses the installation of signage and striping, drainage improvements, and the application of native hydro-seed mix on graded slopes. This project is currently classified as a forecast and is contingent upon the availability of funding. Construction is planned in phases, with each individual phase expected to take approximately 12 months to complete. From an environmental standpoint, the project has been granted a Notice of Determination following a Negative Declaration under the California Environmental Quality Act, confirming that the trail will not have a significant environmental effect.
