Seasonal Mowing and Trimming Contract Waterford Landfill

The Town of Waterford is seeking qualified vendors for a three-year contract to provide semiannual mowing and trimming services at the former landfill located at 85 Miner Lane, Waterford, CT. The scope of work involves maintaining approximately 18 acres of grass, including slopes, berms, and rock drainage swales, with a requirement that grass be mowed to a height of no less than 6 inches. Services are typically performed twice per year, once in mid-May and once at the end of September, subject to Town approval. The contract period extends from November 1, 2023, through June 15, 2029, with pricing structured as a per-mowing rate for each year. Contractors must utilize specific equipment, including front or four-wheel drive tractors with roll-over protection and seat belts, and 15-foot wide-cut rotary batwing mowers equipped with mandatory mulching blades. Remote-controlled mowers are also acceptable. All work must comply with OSHA, state, and federal regulations, and personnel are required to use appropriate personal protective equipment. Because the site is a former landfill, the contractor is responsible for conducting pre-work inspections to identify hazards such as settlements, burrows, or semi-buried objects and must indemnify and hold the Town of Waterford harmless against any claims arising from the activities. Standard operating hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, though extended hours or Saturday work may be permitted with Town approval.
