Full Description

The purpose of this Project is to restore hydrogeomorphic function and floodplain connectivity, reduce erosion, and enhance aquatic and riparian habitat complexity to better support native species (e.g.; Lahontan Cutthroat Trout) along two creeks, Slinkard Creek and By-Day Creek, located in the West Walker River and East Walker River Hydrologic Units. The Project area spans two parcels of land owned and managed by California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), Slinkard Valley, a 7,000 acre property located west of Coleville, and By-Day Creek Ecological Reserve a 460-acre property located outside of Bridgeport. Project activities include the use of hand crews to harvest woody materials (e.g.; willows, conifers, sage brush) and install 180 Beaver Dam Analogs (BDAs) along a total of 1.34 miles of stream channel. The only mechanical equipment used will be vehicles for Project access.
