The Department of Homeland Security's Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization is organizing a Vendor Outreach Session on August 14, 2014, from 9:00 am to 12:15 pm at the Homeland Security Acquisition Institute in Washington, DC. This event offers small businesses, specifically 8(a) and Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) companies, the chance to engage in 15-minute pre-arranged meetings with Small Business Specialists from various Homeland Security procurement offices. In addition to government representatives, Prime Contractor Small Business Liaisons from major contractors working with DHS will be present. The sessions are free for vendors, but due to limited slots, interested companies must register starting August 7 at noon Eastern Time by following detailed online instructions, and pre-registration is recommended to expedite the sign-up process. The venue at 90 K Street NE requires visitors to present government-issued photo identification and advance submission of attendee names to building security 48 hours before the event, with no last-minute substitutions allowed. The location is accessible via the Union Station Metro Red Line, with walking directions and parking options available nearby, including garages charging $8-$9. Hotel accommodations close to the venue are also provided for convenience. The event is supported by the Small Business Advocate, Sharon M. Davis, who can be contacted for further information. This session is part of a broader FY 2014 series meant to foster small business participation in DHS procurement opportunities.
