The U.S. Air Force, through the FA8509 Aflcmc Wiuka office at Robins Air Force Base in Georgia, is conducting market research to identify qualified small businesses capable of providing comprehensive modification, integration, engineering, production, testing, logistics, and sustainment support for Special Operations Forces and Personnel Recovery aircraft systems, as well as Rotary Division-managed platforms and their mission equipment. This effort is being conducted under the anticipated Multiple Award Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract titled MACM II, with solicitation number FA8509-26-R-MACMII, and is not a solicitation or binding commitment. Responses must be submitted electronically via email to Daniel Young and Carolyn Blann no later than July 27, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., and are limited to a five-page capability statement and a twenty-page contractor capability survey, both in searchable PDF format with 12-point Times New Roman font, one-inch margins, and a maximum file size of 10 MB per email. The work involves classified SECRET-level operations requiring respondents to possess appropriate facility clearance levels, secure infrastructure for handling classified data, and experience with ITAR/EAR-controlled information and Government Furnished Information. Technical requirements align with AS9100, ISO 9001, MIL-STD-810, NIST Risk Management Framework, and MIL-STD-498-equivalent standards, with performance expected across both CONUS and OCONUS locations including Warner Robins, Georgia, and potential depot and field sites. The evaluation will be based on qualitative assessment of general capability, modification and systems integration, technical support, production, testing, logistics, sustainment, and commerciality, without specified weights or award basis, though the complexity of the work implies a trade-off approach. Respondents must disclose their business size, socioeconomic status including 8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB, WOSB, and SDB certifications, as well as teaming arrangements, subcontracting plans, and organizational conflict of interest concerns. Participation in this market research does not guarantee future solicitation or contract award, and no reimbursement is provided for response preparation costs. Certification of AS9100, ISO 9001, and security clearance documentation will be required for consideration, along with demonstration of manufacturing capacity, supply chain resilience, quality control, obsolescence management, and cybersecurity compliance. No line-item pricing,

Lift ChallengeThe DARPA Lift Challenge is a public competition designed to spur innovation in vertical and heavy-lift aviation through novel drone designs. Open to teams from companies, startups, universities, and independent innovators, the event culminates in a live demonstration phase from August 6 to 9, 2026, at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force in Dayton, Ohio, with free admission for spectators. Competitors must operate drones weighing no more than 55 pounds capable of carrying at least four times their weight—220 pounds or more—over a rigorous 5-nautical-mile course. The goal is to achieve the highest payload-to-weight ratio while showcasing original engineering, with $6.5 million in prize money awarded to the top performers. Beyond the competition, the event aims to accelerate advancements in drone technology with potential applications in both military operations and civilian sectors. The full competition runs from August 2 to 9, 2026, and is accessible via virtual livestream on YouTube for those unable to attend in person. Spectators are encouraged to bring binoculars due to the scale of the venue, but Jumbotron screens will also broadcast the drone flights. While the event is free and outdoor, advance registration is required to help manage attendance and logistics.
