AI Contract Overview

The USDA-APHIS-MRPBDS-ASD is awarding a sole source contract for the procurement of five hundred gallons of Y-Tek 4 poster tickicide. This acquisition is justified under the authority that only one responsible source exists, as Y-Tek is the only EPA approved manufacturer of the product and maintains an exclusive distributorship with CR Daniels. Market research, including internet searches and a sole source notice posted on FBO.gov, confirmed that no comparable items are currently approved for the US market and no other vendors expressed interest in the requirement. The contract, identified by solicitation number PR-432027, is classified as an award notice for a commercial item. The place of performance is located in Laredo, Texas. The contracting officer has determined the pricing to be fair and reasonable based on previous acquisitions and a comparison to other supplies, noting that the limited market size for this specific chemical does not incentivize additional competition.
