Solid Waste Tipping Fees, Maximum Franchised Collection Rates, and New Cuyama Parcel Fees for FY 2026/27 - All Supervisorial Districts

The Santa Barbara County Public Works Department, Resource Recovery and Waste Management Division, is implementing a fee-setting resolution for the 2026/27 fiscal year, effective from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. The primary objective is to adjust fee schedules for solid waste handling and disposal at all County-operated facilities, including landfills, transfer stations, and the Community Hazardous Waste Center, across all Supervisorial Districts. These adjustments are designed to cover operational expenses, debt service, regulatory compliance, and closure obligations without expanding the existing system. Key financial adjustments include an average tipping fee increase of 4.09 percent, with the Taijquas Landfill rate rising from 196.50 to 203.45 dollars per ton. Additionally, maximum franchised collection rates in unincorporated areas will see an average increase of 3.67 percent, and fees for the Community Hazardous Waste Center at UCSB will increase by 3.03 percent. New Cuyama parcel fees will remain unchanged for this period. The project is exempt from further environmental review under CEQA Guideline Section 15273, as it pertains to routine rate-setting activities to meet financial obligations.
