The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) is seeking information from potential vendors capable of providing one Electro-Magnetic Gradiometer Sensing System Hardware (EMG-SSH) device. This device must be sensitive within the 50kHz to 750kHz frequency range and able to detect picotesla-level measurements to enable the mapping of long linear subsurface conductors, in accordance with specifications outlined in the attached DRAFT Description of Requirement (DoR). This is a sources sought Request for Information (RFI) intended solely for market research and planning purposes; it does not constitute a solicitation, nor does it represent an offer or promise of contract award. Respondents are requested to submit detailed company information, including contact details, business size, NAICS code 334519 classification, and registration status in SAM.gov. They must also address specific questions regarding their capability to fabricate the hardware, develop operating and data storage software, and obtain required peripheral components. Additionally, vendors should provide a capabilities statement that details relevant experience with electromagnetic sensing systems, including previous contracts and customer information. The response deadline is 12:00 PM CST on May 26, 2026, and all submissions and inquiries must be directed in writing to the designated point of contact. This RFI is designed to gauge industry interest and technical ability before the possible issuance of a Request for Quote (RFQ) for this specialized sensing hardware.

BACKGROUND/PURPOSE: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) is conducting market research to evaluate and determine available sources with competencies and capabilities to provide one (1) Electro-Magnetic Gradiometer Sensing System Hardware (EMG-SSH) device that is sensitive between 50kHz-750kHz and can make measurements in the picotesla range to enable detection and mapping of long linear subsurface conductors and that meets all specifications as provided in the DRAFT Description of Requirement (DOR) document.

The DRAFT DOR is attached. Please note this is subject to change.

North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) Code applicable to this sources sought is NAICS 334519, Other Measuring and Controlling Device Manufacturing. The Small Business Size Standard for this sources sought is 600 employees.

The purpose of this Request for Information (RFI) is to obtain availability of vendors and to determine interest in participation before a Request for Quote (RFQ) is released for the required item.

Not responding to this RFI does not preclude participation in any future RFQ, if any is issued. If a solicitation is released, it will be synopsized on the SAM.gov website. It is the responsibility of the potential offerors to monitor this site for additional information or changes pertaining to this requirement.
