The Fermi Forward Discovery Group, acting on behalf of Fermilab under the U.S. Department of Energy, has issued a Sources Sought/Request for Information (RFI) to identify qualified contractors capable of providing interior secondary warehouse space for the Long Baseline Neutrino Facility and Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment. The facility must span between 15,000 and 55,000 square feet and be available for up to three years to store oversized equipment and materials critical to the experiment. The warehouse must be located at 206 Ellison Court, Lead, South Dakota, with ground-level access doors a minimum of 10 feet wide and 14 to 16 feet tall to accommodate tall-load trucks and semi-trailers up to 50 feet in length. Material handling capabilities must support either a 14,000-pound-capacity overhead crane or sufficient interior space for a mobile gantry crane to maneuver and offload cargo. Environmental conditions require protection from freezing but do not necessitate humidity control. This RFI, assigned solicitation number SS-05282026-BF and classified under NAICS code 493110, is solely for market research purposes to assess industry interest, capabilities, and to establish an estimated budget; no formal contract award, pricing, or evaluation factors are established at this stage. The response deadline is June 12, 2026, at 5 p.m. Mountain Time, and interested parties must provide contact information including name, address, phone number, and email. There is no set-aside designation, and no attachments, contract clauses, inspection criteria, or special requirements are specified beyond the stated warehouse parameters. Primary point of contact is Bridget Fugett of Fermilab, with Brian McKenzie as secondary contact.
