The Savannah District of the US Army Corps of Engineers is seeking industry input on state-of-the-art design, technology, and equipment for advanced metal finishing processes, including electroplating, aerospace metal finishing (both wet and dry processes), vat solution processing, and best available pollution control technology for waste management. This effort supports the development of a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the construction and installation of an Advanced Metal Finishing Facility, planned for Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, with an estimated building size of approximately 82,000 square feet. The procurement strategy involves a two-step design-build contract covering both facility construction and the integration of cutting-edge metal finishing equipment to modernize plating operations, boost productivity, and accommodate current and future aerospace workload requirements. The design-build RFP is currently being prepared by KZF Design Inc. on behalf of the Savannah District. An Industry Forum is scheduled for July 10, 2006, at the Comfort Inn near Robins Air Force Base, aimed at gathering technical information and feedback from vendors and suppliers specializing in advanced metal finishing and pollution control technologies. This forum is strictly informational and does not constitute a request for proposals or a commitment by the government. Participants are encouraged to review provided materials beforehand and submit questions or relevant technical data to KZF Design Inc. to facilitate productive discussions. Contact details for KZF Design, including the point of contact Mr. Alan Hautman, have been provided for submissions. This outreach seeks to ensure that the latest, proven technologies are considered in the facility’s design and equipment selection.
