St. Johns County is seeking qualified contractors to perform beach tilling along a designated stretch of shoreline between R76 and R102.5, covering approximately 25 acres and up to 27,600 feet in length. The work involves tilling the beach to a depth of 24 inches, starting with Zone 1 (R76-R89.5) and potentially extending to Zone 2 (R89.5-R102.5), contingent on sea conditions and equipment capabilities. Access points are specified near the Exxon gas station at R83, South Ponte Vedra Park at R95, and Usina Ramp by Reef Restaurant at R109. The contractor must ensure the tilling creates a relatively even surface without deep furrows, using drag chains or similar tools, and must avoid vegetated areas, seawalls, revetments, and upland structures by specified distances. The project emphasizes safety and environmental protection, requiring careful navigation around vegetated zones and structures. All work must be completed before May 1, 2024, with the contractor responsible for providing all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, and transportation necessary for the scope of work. The solicitation was posted on April 11, 2024, with a response deadline of April 16, 2024, and further details are available through the provided online link.
