The Tahoe Conservancy has entered into a short-term license agreement with the South Tahoe Public Utility District to facilitate temporary water discharge operations associated with well repair testing at the Sunset and Tanglewood Wells in South Lake Tahoe. The agreement permits STPUD to install, maintain, and remove two temporary discharge systems on Conservancy land, each comprised of an eight- to 12-inch aluminum irrigation pipeline, a flow diffuser, and silt fencing placed approximately 30 feet from the discharge point to control sediment. These systems will channel groundwater pumped during well testing from the Sunset Well at 885 Sunset Avenue and the Tanglewood Well at 942 Tanglewood Drive. In addition, the license authorizes the construction, maintenance, and removal of two temporary trail crossings where public trails intersect with the discharge infrastructure, ensuring continued public access while accommodating necessary utility work. All installation and removal activities will be conducted by hand crews to minimize environmental disturbance. The agreement is limited in scope and duration, focused strictly on supporting essential well repair procedures without altering long-term land use or public trail access.
