Specialty Services For Laboratory Fume Hoods And Bio-Safety Cabinets Assessment, Repair, Replacement, Testing & Certification, Inspection And Maintenance Services

The San Francisco Unified School District Facilities Design and Construction Department is seeking Statements of Qualifications from specialty services firms to provide assessment, repair, replacement, testing, certification, inspection, and maintenance for laboratory fume hoods and bio-safety cabinets across various school sites. Selected firms will be retained on an as-needed basis for a three-year period. The scope of work includes troubleshooting non-functioning units, providing technical support to the project manager, performing associated electrical and mechanical work, preparing cost estimates, and managing project close-out tasks, which must include two-year warranties against defective materials or faulty workmanship. To be eligible, firms must reside within a 50-mile radius of San Francisco and demonstrate expertise in these specialized services, including familiarity with California building, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing codes, as well as Division of the State Architect procedures for public schools. The selection process involves a two-stage evaluation consisting of a preliminary screening for completeness and geographic compliance, followed by a potential oral interview and presentation of past projects. Applicants must provide a detailed fee schedule of hourly rates and overhead costs that remains valid for the three-year term, along with proof of comprehensive insurance coverage, including general liability, professional liability, and sexual abuse and molestation liability.
