Stanislaus Elementary School Septic to Sewer Project

The Stanislaus Elementary School Septic to Sewer Project, managed by the City of Modesto, involves replacing an outdated and failing septic system at Stanislaus Elementary School, located at 1931 Kiernan Avenue, with new sewer infrastructure. The scope of work includes the installation of approximately 4,100 to 4,700 linear feet of new sewer main within public street right-of-way to connect the school directly to the city's existing sewer system on Bangs Avenue. The alignment consists of approximately 1,600 feet running easterly along the north side of the Caltrans right-of-way in the SR-219/Kiernan Avenue bike lane to Carver Road, followed by approximately 2,700 feet running southerly along the centerline of Carver Road. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2026 and conclude in 2027, with an estimated total duration of 300 calendar days. The project plan expects the contractor to lay approximately 100 feet of pipeline per day over an eight-month period. This project is exempt from CEQA review under Public Resources Code Section 21080.48, as it benefits a small, disadvantaged community water system and meets specific environmental and mitigation criteria. Administrative oversight is provided by Senior Civil Engineer Jim Alves, and the project is subject to prevailing wages or skilled workforce requirements.
