The State Data Center project is the subscription for the “Center for State Foster Care and Adoption Data” (State Data Center) and the Foster Home Spell Files. This service provides OCFS 2 longitudinal data files with information about children placed in foster care and certified foster homes in New York. Chapin Hall takes OCFS data and transforms it into these longitudinal files that provide the ability to track child and foster home outcomes over time. Additionally, many states have a subscription to this same service which allows for child and family outcome comparison with other states. Access to these longitudinal files allow OCFs to better understand the strengths and needs of the foster care system and identify and address challenges.
