The contract involves the development, integration, manufacture, production, and testing of the Surface Ship Undersea Warfare (USW) Combat System, which is a critical component of the AEGIS Combat System deployed on various classes of surface combatants including CG-47, DDG-51, Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), Fast Frigate (FF), and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) cases. The work covers both software and hardware aspects, focusing on the integration of Advanced Capability Build (ACB) software and Technical Insertion (TI) hardware development. The initial phase includes development of TI-20 hardware integrated with previously developed ACB-19 software baseline, followed by an updated ACB-21 software integration on the same hardware platform. This pattern of alternating hardware and software updates will continue throughout the contract period to enhance the USW combat system’s capabilities across all specified ship variants. The contractor is expected to provide comprehensive engineering services for software integration, the design and production of each TI/ACB configuration, applicable software development, and overall system upgrades to support compatibility and interoperability with the ship classes mentioned. The contract is managed by the Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS 5), Office for Undersea Systems, with the Naval Sea Systems Command serving as the contracting authority. Interested parties are directed to contact the contract specialist, Billy Castleberry, by the specified deadline for questions prior to the anticipated request for proposal release in December 2016. The contract requires adherence to rigorous standards to ensure the USW combat system remains fully interoperable within the larger AEGIS Combat System across diverse platforms.
