FIRST ARTICLE/PREPRODUCTION APPROVAL CONTRACTOR TESTING REQUIRED. SEE MIL-HDBK-831 DATED23 APR. 1999 IN PREPARATION OF THE FIRST ARTICLE REPORT. FIRST ARTICLE TESTING SHALL BE CONDUCTED ON TWO ITEMS IAW REFERENCED DRAWINGS AND DRAWING NOTES, SPECIFICATIONS, AND SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS SET FORTH IN THE CONTRACT. A 100% DIMENSIONAL CHARACTERISTICS CHECK SHALL BE PERFORMED & RESULTS PROVIDED. THE FIRST ARTICLE OFFERED MUST BE MANUFACTURED AT THE FACILITIES IN WHICH PRODUCTION QUANTITES ARE PROCURED UNDER THE CONTRACT, OR IF THE FIRST ARTICLE IS A COMPONENT NOT MANUFACTURED BY THE PRIME CONTRACTOR, SUCH COMPONENT MUST BE MANUFACTURED AT THE FACILITIES IN WHICH THE COMPONENT IS TO BE PRODUCED FOR THE CONTRACT. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A STATEMENT ALONG WITH OBJECTIVE EVIDENCE THAT TEST AND PRODUCTION ITEMS MEET THE MATERIAL AND PROCESS REQUIREMENTS OF THE CONTRACT.
