Full Description

Purpose The purpose of this acquisition was to procure software maintenance support for virtual tape migrations, upgrades and consolidations. Strategy Executed The Dept. of Education, Federal Student Aid Office (FSA) conducted a full and open competition under the GSA Schedule vehicle among contractors who provide the same or similar products. The solicitation was posted to GSA's E-Buy on April 12, 2010, and notification was also sent to the incumbent. The original deadline of April 19th at 4:00PM was subsequently extended to April 23rd at 4:00PM. FSA received one quote in response to the solicitation, from the incumbent. The incumbent's offer was deemed to be reasonable given that a full and open competition was conducted and that the price was less than what had historically been paid to the incumbent for the provision of such services.
