The City of Santa Clara is proposing an amendment to the Tasman East Specific Plan to increase the allowable development within the project area. This modification seeks to add 1,500 dwelling units, 20,000 square feet of retail space, 20,000 square feet of co-working space, and a 10,000 square foot day care facility. These additions will supplement the existing plan, which already permits up to 4,500 dwelling units and 106,000 square feet of retail, including a potential grocery store and school. Despite the increase in total units and commercial space, the city will maintain current residential densities and building height restrictions. Densities will remain at a minimum of 60 dwelling units per acre for sites under one acre and 100 dwelling units per acre for larger sites. The maximum building height across the Specific Plan area will remain capped at 220 feet.
