The 2024 Fisheries Restoration Grant Program's Mitigated Negative Declaration Project focuses on enhancing off-channel fisheries and riparian habitats to support the recovery of salmonids on the North Fork Salmon River in California. Managed by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife Region 1, the initiative is divided into three phases. Phases 1 and 3 involve lowering the floodplain, constructing a side channel and alcoves, installing large wood structures and channel riffles, and revegetating disturbed areas. Phase 2 expands the scope to include the construction of a middle channel, north channel, and additional alcoves, alongside the creation of a torrent sedge shelf in a perennial side channel. This phase also covers the enhancement of the Cronan Gulch alcove and split-channel river bar, the installation of step-pools, and the dewatering, invasive species removal, and partial filling of Gallia Pond.
