Thorlabs Fiber SCALPSS 2

The NASA Shared Services Center is seeking a sole source contract with Thorlabs, Inc. for the procurement of 60 custom hermetically sealed fiber-optic assemblies (Part Number FFH05026-CUSTOM) to support the SCALPSS 2.0 project. The requirement consists of 20 units at 5 meters in length and 40 units at 1 meter in length, both with a length tolerance of plus or minus 20 cm. These mission-critical components must feature hermetically sealed stainless-steel microtube jackets (FT052SSB-SABR), custom hermetic SMA connectors on both ends, and vacuum-compatible epoxies equivalent to catalog MFV1L1. The acquisition is conducted under FAR Part 12 for commercial products and services, with the NASA FAR Supplement Clause 1852.215-84 regarding the Ombudsman also applicable. The estimated period of performance is from October 30, 2026, to March 30, 2027. Delivery is scheduled for the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, with a phased rollout requiring the first five units within 10 weeks after receipt of order, followed by five units per week, and total completion of the 60-unit order within 22 weeks. All assemblies must include a generic certificate of conformance, and the vendor must comply with US, UK, and EU export laws. Because these items are custom, they are non-cancelable once ordered, and title transfers at the point of shipment from the supplier's facility.
