The Town of Irricana, Alberta is inviting proposals from qualified Proponents for the provision of residential and commercial solid waste, recycling collection and hauling services. Services shall be provided on an alternating bi-weekly schedule. The successful Proponent shall propose collection day(s), which will be subject to review and approval by the Town of Irricana. The primary objective of the RFP is to seek a qualified, safety conscious, responsible company with a high degree of customer service to enter into a written agreement with the Town of Irricana. The successful Proponent shall provide residential solid waste and recycling collection and disposal services on an alternating weekly schedule, resulting in bi-weekly collection of solid waste and bi-weekly collection of recycling. The scope of services includes approximately 511 residential and commercial properties for solid waste collection, and 511 residential properties and 37 commercial properties for recycling collection. The Town of Irricana shall continue to procure, own, and manage the 240-litre solid waste and recycling containers. There are approximately 310 metric tonnes of residential waste collected and disposed and approximately 100 metric tonnes of recycling waste collected and disposed. In addition, the successful Proponent shall collect and dispose of one (1) six-yard solid waste container located at the Irricana Campground on a bi-weekly basis. The Town of Irricana garbage and recycling collection days are broken into alternative weeks resulting in collection every two weeks on Fridays. The successful Proponent can determine the proposed collection date. This scope of work will include front pick up and some alley pickups (both sides of the alley and street). Normal hours for automated truck operation in residential areas will be from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. except on weekends and statutory holidays. Statutory holidays are coordinated such that solid waste will be collected the next closest day either before or after the statutory holiday. The successful proponent will receive and resolve resident calls/complaints while the Town of Irricana will complete all repairs, replacements and deliveries of bins to a new resident. The location for the hauling and disposal of solid waste and recycling within the Town of Irricana municipal boundaries will be determined by the successful Proponent. The Town of Irricana intends to enter a five (5) year agreement with the successful Proponent, with services commencing on July 6, 2026. The agreement may include up to two (2) optional one (1) year extensions, subject to mutual agreement between the Town and the Contractor. Any contract extension shall be at the sole discretion of the Town of Irricana and will be contingent upon satisfactory performance by the Contractor, as determined by the Town, and the Town’s acceptance of any revised pricing following the initial five (5) year term.
