The Town of Strathmore depends on the City of Calgary’s regional water system to supply its current and future water needs. Due to growth pressures and evolving regional water supply conditions, the Town has been evaluating its long-term water storage, pumping capacity, and system resilience. The Brentwood Reservoir, which historically provided part of Strathmore’s treated water storage, is aging and has limited capacity, leading to considerations of its decommissioning. In light of ongoing supply constraints, the Town has decided that expanding the newer Wildflower Reservoir is a more strategic and timely investment. This reservoir is a crucial component of Strathmore’s water distribution network and is already undergoing upgrades to enhance pumping capacity, support community growth, improve fire flow capability, and increase system redundancy. To ensure continued reliable service and adequate emergency storage, the Town is seeking design services for the expansion of the Wildflower Reservoir’s storage capacity. The project aims to improve water security while deferring the Brentwood Reservoir’s decommissioning until regional system conditions better support that transition. The contract involves producing a technical memo outlining a construction plan that minimizes service interruptions and ensures uninterrupted water delivery during the upgrades. The solicitation is managed by the Town of Strathmore, with Colton Hall as the contracting authority, and proposals are due by June 25, 2026. The work will be performed in Alberta, focusing on engineering and design services to expand the existing Wildflower Reservoir facilities.

Full Description

The Town of Strathmore relies on the City of Calgary’s regional water system to meet current and future community needs. As growth pressures increase and regional water supply conditions evolve, the Town has been actively assessing its long‑term water storage, pumping capacity, and system resilience requirements. Historically, the Brentwood Reservoir has provided a portion of the Town’s treated water storage; however, its aging condition and limited capacity prompted consideration of decommissioning the facility. During this evaluation, and in light of ongoing water supply constraints within the Calgary system, the Town determined that expanding the newer Wildflower Reservoir represents a more strategic and immediate investment. The Wildflower Reservoir is already central to Strathmore’s water distribution network and is currently undergoing pumping capacity upgrades to support community growth, improve fire flow capability, and enhance system redundancy. To ensure reliable service, maintain adequate emergency storage, and support long‑term planning objectives, the Town is now pursuing an expansion of the Wildflower Reservoir’s storage capacity. This project will allow Strathmore to strengthen its water security while deferring decommissioning of the Brentwood Reservoir until regional supply conditions and system capacity improvements allow for a more optimal transition. This project is for the purpose of contracting design services for the expansion to the existing Wildflower Reservoir capacity facilities. We are looking for a written technical memo outlining the proposed construction plan, focusing on the least impactful interruption to services and providing uninterrupted delivery of water. engineering and design services for the upgrades to the existing Wildflower Reservoir facilities.
