AI Contract Overview
The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is seeking to acquire two turbochargers to serve as critical spare parts for the maintenance and repair of Caterpillar C15 and C13 engines installed in their Prime Mover and Tamper fleets. These engines are vital components for WMATA’s rail infrastructure maintenance operations, ensuring the continued functionality of equipment used in track and structural repairs. Currently, WMATA lacks suitable spare turbochargers that meet the necessary specifications, which poses a risk of significant operational disruptions and increased costs should a turbo failure occur unexpectedly. The procurement aims to mitigate this risk by ensuring availability of essential replacement parts, thereby supporting the Authority’s goal of maintaining a State of Good Repair for its rail infrastructure. The solicitation, posted on June 18, 2024, with a response deadline of June 24, 2024, falls under NAICS code 811310, which covers maintenance and repair services. The contract value is estimated to range between $20,000 and $40,000. This procurement is part of WMATA’s ongoing efforts to sustain its fleet’s operational readiness and prevent downtime caused by critical engine component failures. Interested suppliers can find additional details and respond through WMATA’s supplier portal.
