AI Contract Overview
This is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the United States Forest Service under solicitation number 1202SA25R9803 to gather market data on unmanned aircraft system cameras and sensors for potential future acquisition. The RFI seeks technical information on stabilized multisensor payloads compatible with approved USFS UAS platforms, including thermal, electro-optical, multispectral, and laser rangefinder systems, all required to operate within stringent environmental parameters such as -20°C to 50°C, IP54 ingress protection, and ASTM/RTCA vibration standards. Response submissions must include a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI), be formatted as a single PDF, and contain detailed technical documentation such as mechanical and electrical interface drawings, calibration certificates, API/SDK access, test results, and metadata adherence to MISB ST 0601 and ST 0903 standards. The payload must weigh no more than 1,100 grams, consume less than 30 watts, use exFAT-formatted UHS-I V60 or faster SD cards, and meet radiometric accuracy within ±2°C or ±2%. Responses are due by 1200 hours Mountain Time on June 12, 2026, and must be sent via email to the designated Contracting Officer. No funds have been authorized, appropriated, or allocated for this effort, and submission of information does not obligate the government to enter into any contract or reimburse costs incurred. The RFI is strictly for market research to inform future acquisition strategy and contains no contract clauses, evaluation factors, pricing requirements, or award methodologies. There is no set-aside used, and while NDAA compliance and IEC 60825-1 Class 1 laser safety are technical requirements for the system, no socioeconomic certifications, security clearances, or contractor representations beyond the UEI are requested. Live demonstrations on approved USFS UAS platforms may be requested later, but this RFI does not include any formal inspection, delivery, packaging, or invoicing instructions. The sole point of contact for responses is Steven B. Peterson, with Cory Jones as a secondary point of contact. All submitted information will be used solely to assess industry capability and shape future procurement planning.
