AI Contract Overview

Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation - Marine Systems was awarded a non-competitive, sole-source contract by the Department of Defense Strategic Systems Programs for the support of the Underwater Launcher Subsystem for Fiscal Year 2021 through 2024. The contract provides technical engineering support, integration, and field services for the TRIDENT II (D-5) deployed SSBN and the SSGN Attack Weapon System. With an initial base year value of 29,541,061 dollars, the total potential value reaches 208,244,773 dollars if options for fiscal years 2022 through 2024 are exercised. The award is justified as a sole-source procurement due to the contractor's extensive history as the prime contractor and the prohibitive costs associated with qualifying a new vendor. The scope of work includes equipment repairs, integrated logistics support, technical documentation, and continuing reliability and performance evaluations. Additionally, the contractor is responsible for providing expendable hardware for the US and UK, including D5 gas generators and spare parts, as well as performing SSP Alterations to refresh Launcher Subsystem components and address hardware obsolescence. Performance is distributed across multiple locations, with the majority of work occurring in Sunnyvale, California, and additional services provided in Washington, Georgia, West Virginia, Florida, Missouri, and California. The contract utilizes a mix of Firm Fixed Price, Cost-Plus-Incentive-Fee, and Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee structures.
