This contract involves a short-term sole source award to Paramed Inc for the continuation of ambulance services at the Lexington Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) from October 1, 2012, through March 31, 2013. The award is intended to ensure uninterrupted ambulance support for veterans while a competitive procurement process is underway for a longer-term contract, which will include a base period plus four option years. Paramed Inc is identified as the only capable contractor to maintain these critical services at the required level within the necessary timeframe. The Government has issued a Notice of Intent to Sole Source to Paramed Inc but remains open to considering information and proposals submitted within four days of the publication of this notice to determine whether a competitive acquisition should be pursued. Full Description

This is a Notice of Intent to Sole Source a short term contract to Paramed Inc for a period of performance from October 1, 2012 - March 31, 2013. The short-term sole source award will made to the incumbent contractor for continuation of services currently ongoing until award of a competitive acquisition. A firm fixed price (FFP) type purchase order is anticipated. The procurement is being processed through other than full and open competition pursuant to the statutory authority of FAR 13.106-1 (b). The continuation of ambulance services in support of the Lexington VAMC is needed to avoid disruption of veteran services at this Medical Center. The contractor has the immediate expertise and a richly developed support system already in place to continue support due to the fact that they are the incumbent contractor currently providing these services. Paramed Inc is the only contractor capable of providing these services in the time and at a level of performance required. This will be a short term award to allow for the continuation of required services while the new contract requirement (base plus four years) is competed and awarded. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, the Government will consider all proposals received within four days after the date of publication of this synopsis. Information received as a result of this notice of intent will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed procurement action based on the responses received is solely within the discretion of the Government. The Government will not pay for information received. The NAICS code is 621910 The Government point of contact for this effort is Kimberly Carson who can be reached at +1 (555) 000-0000 or via e-mail contact@example.gov.
