The Voorhees Sewer Lift Station Upgrades project involves comprehensive construction work to enhance and modernize the existing sewer lift station (S-264) in Manhattan Beach, California. The scope includes demolition, civil, mechanical, structural, electrical, and instrumentation improvements necessary to deliver a fully operational system. Key tasks encompass rehabilitating and modifying the existing wet well, installing new force mains, connecting the station to off-site infrastructure, and upgrading mechanical equipment such as pumps, valves, and controls. Additionally, the project requires the installation of a standby generator with associated electrical and control systems, along with civil site improvements like enclosures, paving, and landscaping. The work must adhere strictly to the contract documents, permits, and applicable regulations, with some activities, such as the installation of the new force main and pipe rehabilitation, scheduled for summer only. The contract emphasizes the contractor’s responsibility for obtaining all necessary permits, including electrical permits for the generator, and managing the procurement of laydown areas outside the project site, potentially negotiating with the local school district for space. The project’s estimated value ranges from $500,000 to $1.5 million, with a response deadline of September 12, 2024. The City of Manhattan Beach provides a primary contact for inquiries and requires bidders to register through the city’s online permitting system. Overall, the project aims to upgrade the sewer lift station to improve capacity, reliability, and operational efficiency, with specific attention to deferred submittals and regulatory compliance.
