The Great Lakes Acquisition Center intends to enter into a sole source, firm fixed price contract with Olympus America, Inc. for the lease of one GF-UE160-AL5 GI video endoscope. This equipment is designated for use at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, and the agreement includes all necessary maintenance and repairs. The procurement is being conducted under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, as Olympus is identified as the only provider capable of meeting the VHA National Standardization of Endoscopes guidelines. The action falls under NAICS code 532490 with a size standard of 30 million dollars. While the government intends to negotiate exclusively with Olympus, interested parties were given the opportunity to submit written evidence of their capability to meet the requirements to the Contracting Officer by January 3, 2014. The government maintains sole discretion in determining whether to compete the procurement based on any received responses; otherwise, it will proceed with the sole source negotiation.
