The Department of Veterans Affairs’ Network Contracting Office 2 plans to award a sole source contract to Cablevision Systems Corporation for cable television services at the Northport VA Medical Center in New York. This contract is awarded under the authority that allows for a sole responsibility source when no other suppliers can meet the agency’s requirements. The service will provide cable TV for approximately 300 televisions located in patient rooms, intensive care, emergency, dialysis, chemotherapy, outpatient clinics, waiting rooms, public areas, and staff break rooms throughout the facility. The cable service provided can be analog or digital, as long as cable boxes are not required at every television for channel selection. While high definition service is not mandatory, it may be offered free or at an additional cost. The contract also includes around-the-clock full-service maintenance and will be structured as a firm fixed price agreement. The procurement falls under NAICS code 515210 with a size standard of $35.5 million. The government retains the discretion to decide whether to proceed with a competitive procurement based on comments received. Interested parties were invited to respond in writing by December 7, 2020, exclusively via email to the contract specialist, Rachel Beason. No telephone inquiries were permitted. The office handling the contract is located in Albany, NY, reinforcing the focus on meeting the specific cable service needs of the VA medical center through this sole source procurement.
