Walters Middle School Buildings Replacement and New Gymnasium

The Fremont Unified School District is undertaking a design-build project at Walters Middle School located at 39201 Sundale Dr, Fremont, California. The project involves the construction of a new 38,824 square foot classroom building and a 9,560 square foot gymnasium, along with associated sitework. This new construction will replace three existing occupied school buildings, requiring the demolition of 20 classrooms totaling 33,108 square feet. The project includes a phased approach for abatement, demolition, and construction to ensure a seamless transition from old facilities to new ones. While three classrooms will be added, the project will not meaningfully increase student enrollment capacity, remaining below a 10 percent increase. Construction is scheduled to commence around June 2026 and is expected to be completed by approximately December 2027.
