The contract involves the maintenance and rehabilitation of Well 119, which was originally constructed in 1989 using drift formations and is gravel packed. The well features a 12-inch casing with a pitless adapter and a 20-inch casing extending from about 7 feet to 80 feet below ground, with screening between 80 feet and a total depth of 130 feet. The project focuses on formation redevelopment and includes inspection and repair of the well's equipment, such as electrical cables, motor, and column piping. A key operational issue has been over-pumping with the current pump, which has been managed by throttling the discharge valve. A new Byron Jackson Model 10MQH, 3-stage full-diameter submersible pump will be provided by the City for installation under this contract. The solicitation for this work is issued by the Water Production department based in Aurora, Illinois, with a response deadline of May 29, 2026. The contract is managed through the local government procurement system, and contact is facilitated through Robert Leible, Superintendent of Water Production, as well as the Purchasing Department. This rehabilitation project aims to restore optimal well performance by addressing long-standing operational inefficiencies and upgrading critical pump components.

Full Description

The existing Well 119 was originally constructed in 1989 and completed in drift formations and is gravel packed. The well consists of 12-inch casing (pitless adapter), 20-inch casing extending from approximately 7 feet to 80 feet below ground surface, and is screened from 80 feet to a total depth of 130 feet. The primary purpose and intent of this project is formation redevelopment, combined with inspection and repair of all related well equipment, including electrical cables, motor, and column piping. Over-pumping of the formation with the existing pump has been a long-standing operational issue and is currently mitigated through throttling of the discharge line valve. A replacement pump will be furnished by the City for installation under this contract. The pump is a Byron Jackson Model 10MQH, 3-stage, full-diameter submersible pump.
