The Government of Canada, through Public Services and Procurement Canada, is seeking to enhance its understanding of Indigenous business capacity in Western Canada by issuing a Request for Information titled Western Region Indigenous Professional Design Services RFI, identified by solicitation number PSPC-WR-001. This initiative aligns with the Government’s broader commitment to reconciliation and its target of awarding at least five percent of federal contracts to Indigenous-owned businesses. The RFI is specifically designed to gather market insights and build a comprehensive source list of Indigenous businesses capable of delivering professional design services in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. It is not a solicitation for bids or a promise of award; no contract will result directly from this effort, and participation is entirely voluntary without impacting future procurement eligibility. The RFI aims to foster direct collaboration with Indigenous businesses to better understand their capabilities in design services related to construction and other service work, with the goal of improving support mechanisms and increasing their involvement in upcoming PSPC Western Region projects. The point of contact for inquiries is Tammy Okemaysim, and responses must be submitted through an online form by the deadline of March 31, 2027. The action falls under NAICS code 541310 for architectural services and is part of a strategic planning effort to strengthen Indigenous engagement in federal procurement. No contract clauses, evaluation factors, pricing structures, or performance specifications are included because the RFI serves purely an informational and preparatory role. All submissions will be used to inform future procurement decisions and to cultivate meaningful partnerships that support the growth and sustainability of Indigenous businesses in the professional design services sector.
