Whittier Boulevard (2735) Bulkhead

■ Only the following five Contractors can bid on this project as a Prime Contractor:• Calex Engineering• Clarke Contracting• Jilk Heavy Construction, Inc.• Mike Prlich & Sons, Inc.• Mladen Buntich Construction Company▬ ♦ The project site is located at 2735 Whittier Boulevard in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, specifically at the southern end of an alley east of the address. The existing slope condition at this location poses a significant threat to public safety due to encroaching debris. ♦ This project will mitigate the threat to public safety and protect the public right-of-way by constructing a new cantilevered bulkhead retaining structure. The proposed bulkhead will be approximately 10.5 feet tall and span 16 linear feet. It will consist of three cast-in-drilled-hole (CIDH) piles with cast-in-place reinforced concrete retaining walls placed between them. A grade beam will be constructed along the bottom of the bulkhead. The structure will extend approximately 6 inches below the sidewalk grade in front of the bulkhead.
