The New York State Department of Health intends to contract with multiple contractors (see below recipient list) for the Women Infants and Children Infrastructure Grant for the term 4/1/2025-9/30/2027. A competitive procurement for this service was not feasible because current WIC local agency contracts were procured via competitive Request for Applications #20140 - Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC). The Department awarded 85 contracts to WIC local agency grantees for the five-year term, beginning October 1, 2023, and ending September 30, 2028. Through these contracts, WIC local agency grantees provide nutrition education, nutrition assessment and education, breastfeeding promotion and support, including Breastfeeding Peer Counseling and breast pumps, referrals to other services, and nutritious foods to WIC participants. In accordance with the Department’s grant application and award for federal funding, grant funds are being awarded to current WIC local agency grantees. Only WIC local agency grantees are authorized to provide WIC services in New York State, therefore a formal competitive process to outside entities is not feasible for this opportunity.
