Full Description
Create cut for entrance off State Route 534 and install appropriately sized culvert to meet ODOT specifications (see PERMITTING).
Install driveway entrance using specs for the gravel parking area. The driveway should be wide enough for two-way traffic and should be curved (slightly widened) in both directions where it ties into State Route 534 to assist drivers entering and exiting with visibility.
Tree removal
The parking area location has been sited to minimize the need for tree clearing. Invasive species such as bush honeysuckle, multiflora rose, privet, and others may be removed. For all standing trees left, damage should be prevented.
NO trees may be removed without prior approval. Trees that are removed may be left on the property within the woods away from the property boundary. Brush should be piled for the benefit of wildlife, and so it does not impede future access to the site.
Grade parking area. Ensure proper drainage. A berm should be created around the parking area to better define the area and prevent loss of gravel. Material from on site should be used for this. A 5’ buffer strip should be left in place on the east side of the ditch.
Install gravel lot. The gravel lot should have space for 10 parked cars. It should have enough room for two-way traffic entering and exiting, with sufficient room to back out of parking spots. The parking area should have a base of geo-textile fabric. Appropriate drainage should be incorporated to prevent ponding on the surface. Gravel should be limestone with 2&3’s on the bottom, then 57’s with 304’s on top. Contractor will design the parking lot configuration or layout and present that to the Assistant Regional Scenic River Manager for approval.
Disposal of materials
All excavated materials should be used in construction of the parking area and the berm. Any debris, including the fence posts and cable shall be disposed of and not left on-site.
Site remediation
Restore and stabilize any disturbed areas to natural contours. Seed all disturbed areas outside of the parking area with a native seed mix appropriate to the site conditions and straw mulch. The seed mix must be approved by the Assistant Regional Scenic River Manager. The mix may be provided by DNAP staff. Repair ruts and other damage on property.
Install new property signage. The Assistant Regional Scenic River Manager will provide the new sign. The contractor should construct a pressure treated wood frame for the sign which will stand on 6x6 inch posts. The configuration should be consistent with the current signage. The appropriate location shall be approved by the Assistant Regional Scenic River Manager.
Permitting and other Action
The contractor will provide all permitting services which may include but is not limited to the following: Right of Entry Needed for access to property. Coordination with ODOT is necessary to tie into State Route 534 and a Curb Cut Permit may be required. Due diligence is required to identify other potential permits, certifications, or permissions needed for the project.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS Contractor will provide all materials and supplies unless specified otherwise in the Scope of Work. A sediment and erosion control plan shall be implemented including the use of properly entrenched silt fence or other barrier not to include straw bales. A spill prevention plan must be implemented. Equipment must be cleaned prior to entering the site to prevent the spread of invasive species. This includes tires, tread, and tracks. Final Plans shall be submitted for approval prior to starting construction.
TIMELINEWork may begin immediately upon approval of plans by Assistant Regional Scenic River Manager. Project must be completed prior to June 25, 2024.
