The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking expressions of interest to acquire a site on the island of Kauai, Hawaii, suitable for constructing a new VA clinic. The site must be between 2 and 4.5 acres and located within a specifically delineated area defined by several major highways and roads. The VA is open to purchasing the land at fair market value or accepting a donation, but will not consider properties located within the 100-year floodplain unless no feasible alternative exists. Interested parties must submit an expression of interest including key details such as site location, current zoning and use, size, and proof of ownership or control, along with additional optional information that could strengthen the offer, including maps, environmental assessments, utility availability, and any title or development encumbrances. Submissions must be received by the specified deadline and can be sent electronically by email or on CD, with specific size and delivery requirements. The VA emphasizes that there is no obligation to purchase any site based solely on responses and reserves the right to modify the site requirements or delineated area as needed. Following an initial review, VA staff will conduct site tours of promising locations. The solicitation reflects a strategic effort by the VA to expand healthcare access for veterans on Kauai by securing an appropriate and viable property for clinic construction while ensuring compliance with environmental and logistical considerations.
