AI Contract Overview
The contract involves the provision of XHT Test Tiles to be used for shock testing on a specific class of submarines. While XHT tiles are currently applied during the new construction phase of submarines, this contract addresses the need for a maintenance tile suitable for in-service vessels. Unlike the tiles used in new builds procured from Globe Composites by Electric Boat, the maintenance tiles will be slightly thicker to accommodate different application procedures in maintenance yards. The solicitation, issued by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division under the Department of Defense, was posted on June 2, 2026, with a response deadline of June 9, 2026. The contract falls under NAICS code 325510 and is classified as a combined type. The work will be performed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and the primary point of contact for this procurement is Stefan Kitzinger. The contract aims to ensure that the maintenance of operational submarines can be effectively supported with appropriately designed shock test tiles.

Full Description
XHT Test Tile will be used to perform shock testing on the proposed tile for a certain class of submarines. XHT tiles are currently applied during new construction, but there is currently not a maintenance tile used for inservice boats. Electric Boat currently procures XHT tiles from Globe Composites and applies them at new construction. However, the maintenance procedure will differ from the methods at new construction, so a slightly thicker tile is needed for the maintenance yards.
